My Top 3 Go-To Breakfast Ideas

Breakfast Ideas

We all know breakfast is a crucial part of the day, but it’s often over looked.  Lack of time in the morning usually makes it hard for us to get in this important meal.  I have some “go-to” breakfasts that I make regularly because 1. they’re quick and simple and 2. I like them and know I won’t have a problem eating them frequently.  For me, the most important part about eating healthy is finding foods you really love and can master so that when you’re crunched for time it’s not a hassle.

Don’t ever force yourself to constantly eat something that just doesn’t taste good to you.  This will cause you to turn away from building a solid foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

Avocado Toast

Breakfast Ideas

Easy as that.  I mash up about half an avocado and put it over whole wheat toast.  I almost always top it off with some chia or flax seeds for some omega 3’s and a little crunch.  If you like spice, red pepper flakes make a great topping as well!  When I’m feeling a little extra hungry, I’ll add a layer of hummus underneath the avocado which I find to be more filling. (And tastes delicious too!)

Shake

Breakfast Ideas

A lot of people tell me shakes simply don’t fill them.  It’s understandable, but there are ways to get in a lot of vitamins & minerals along with the essential macronutrients your body needs with drinking shakes.  I try to pack as much in my shakes as I can.  My usual shake consists of 1 banana (preferably frozen), blueberries (also preferably frozen), as much spinach as I can fit in, plant based protein powder, flaxseed meal, tsp of matcha powder, tbsp of a nut or seed butter (my favorite is sunflower seed butter) and nut milk (sometimes protein fortified for extra protein).

Oatmeal

Breakfast Ideas

As I’ve mentioned earlier, it’s important to eat foods that you like.  When making oatmeal, it’s easy for it to taste bland and turn people off from wanting it.  Use ingredients to dress it up so you actually enjoy it!  Here’s a link to my favorite oatmeal recipe.  It can be made fresh, or the night before as “overnight oats”.  I enjoy it both ways, hot or cold!
